During an interview with Radio Marca, Joan Laporta claims to have the key for Lionel Messi to ignore all offers and finish his career at FC Barcelona.
Despite Lionel Messi’s current situation at FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta still has one last hope to convince him to stay at the club. The former president already started his re-election campaign all over Spain with convincing Leo to stay as his main objective. As we all know, the Argentine is tired of not winning trophies and not having a competitive squad.
The president who can convince him to stay will be the one that offers him a winning project. If this doesn’t happen, Leo will likely leave the Catalan club. Things are as simple as that, Messi cares about money but a great project is far more important. He is a family man who is already dreading the logistics of having to move his children from their current schools and away from all their friends. Laporta is convinced Leo is willing to hear what he has to offer.
Laporta already made Messi win in the past.
When he was still president, Joan Laporta was there when Messi started his career. He was also there during arguably the most successful year in the club’s history. Joan’s connections with many clubs and markets are what make him stronger for this election.
“We will use all our ability to ensure Leo continues,” he said via Radio Marca. “I am convinced he’s wanting the new president of the club to make him an offer. He knows if I promise him a competitive team, I will keep my word. I have earned his trust. He told me himself that I have always delivered.
“But I am not in a position yet to be able to do so and to make him a proposal. Like Pele, Leo has the chance to spend his entire career with one team,” he added. “And that would be really nice. “We have to make an attractive proposal in all senses. I am sure that other clubs can offer more financially.”
