Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag has shed more light on speculation linking Donny Van de Beek with an exit from the club.

It’s becoming a common occurrence to see big names depart Ajax every summer. Matthijs de Ligt left last summer and Hakim Ziyech did the same earlier in the window. Another big name in Van de Beek could follow suit as well.

The 23-year-old is tipped to leave the Dutch giants this summer. Manchester United are strong favorites to land the midfielder. Although, reports from Spain claim the Dutchman will rather join Barcelona.

Ronald Koeman will reportedly try to use his Dutch links to convince Van de Beek to snub Man United. No one knows how that will play out until the very end.

One certainty is that the Red Devils have strong interest in the player.

Talks of an exit were further fueled when Van de Beek was left out of his side’s squad in their friendly win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.

Ajax boss Ten Hag comments on the matter and admits there are some ‘developments’ in line regarding a potential exit.

Pre-game, Ten Hag told Ziggo Sport: “There are indeed developments that keep him out of the selection.

“We will see what happens. We’ll make an announcement as soon as there’s some clarity.”

After the match, Ten Hag gave even more info on Van de Beek and his absence from the squad.

“The fact that Donny did not play does indicate a direction.

“The request not to let him play did not come specifically from one side. We do that together.

“Agreements have been made about a possible transfer, and if that possibility arises, you must also co-operate.”
