Before joining Atletico Madrid back in 2006, Sergio Aguero was rejected by the Bayern Munich recruitment team. Here’s why.

Sergio Aguero talked about an anecdote that occurred in his life when he was a young footballer which involved German giants Bayern Munich.

Aguero emerged as a top professional during his teenage in Argentina given his excellent displays at Independiente.

Eventually, he attracted elite European clubs as they wished to sign the prolific striker. Later, Aguero went on to agree terms with Atletico Madrid as his first team outside his country.

Before signing for the Rojiblancos, however, life could have shown him different colours if Bayern scouts selected him.

Aguero participated in a Q&A session on Twitter where he revealed the truth behind Bayern’s disapproval of him. This was a response to an old publication from Ole, one of Argentina’s top media brands.

The former Barca star wrote: “They told me what happened with that story. Someone from Bayern came to see me play against Estudiantes. I played horrible that day and they ended up falling in love with Jose Sosa.”

“They bought Sosa.”
