Sergio Aguero and Pep Guardiola’s contracts expire in July 2021, but the club’s Chairman believes their future is in their hands.

Chairman of Manchester City football club, Khaldoon Al Mubarak has indicated that despite the ongoing changes in the club, both key figures will be left to decide their future.

Guardiorla has been instrumental in City’s domestic dominance over the years. For Aguero, he has been a faithful servant to City and his name will go down in the club’s history as one of the greats.

“Vincent left when he felt it was right for him to leave and the same thing with David. Sergio is going to be the same whether that is this year or the year after,” Al Mubarak said according to Daily Mail.

“It will play out in a comfortable way whatever Sergio decides. Pep is a similar answer. This conversation with Pep is a natural conversation.”

“Pep and I have a very clear understanding about what is right for the club and what is not. We have a clear alignment in terms of where we see the future and what we want in terms of success.

“It will work out in the best way for Pep, for me and for the club. I’m very comfortable about that.”

Al Mubarak added: “To have players like David and Sergio essentially commit 10 years of their lives to the club tells me we have it right. They are part of the DNA of the club now.”

City’s season did not end as planned, as they finished 18-points behind rivals Liverpool in the Premier League. They also suffered shock elimination in the Champions League by Lyon.
