The former Arsenal striker was on hand to give Partey some pointers on his future amid interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.

Emmanuel Adebayor revealed that he advised Thomas Partey to favor joining the Arsenal ‘family’ over fellow Premier League clubs Chelsea and Manchester United.

The 27-year-old became a subject of heavy interest over the summer following his impressive performances for Atletico Madrid. Feeling uncertain over his choices, he contacted Adebayor for advice on the matter.

The Togolese striker, who played for Arsenal between 2006 and 2009, then relayed his own experiences as a Gunner to Partey and advised him that a move to north London would benefit his development.

Partey later completed a €50m transfer to the Emirates Stadium and has since enjoyed a decent start to his Premier League career.

“He told me that some clubs in England, namely Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, and others have shown interest in him and he needs advice,” revealed Adebayor at an event in Partey’s native Ghana as quoted on Metro.

“I advised him to go to Arsenal because I have had the opportunity to play there and I think it will be good for his development.

“Arsenal is more than a club, it is a family, and I’m impressed with his performances so far in the Premier League.”

Partey will hope to shake off an injury problem he sustained against Aston Villa last time out to feature in Arsenal’s trip to Leeds United in the upcoming weekend.
