AC Milan have opened talks with Real Madrid for the prodigious playmaker Oscar Rodriguez, according to reports in Italy.

Rodriguez enjoyed a decent loan spell at Leganes in 2019/20. He was a rare shining light in a truly disappointing season for Los Pepineros, recording nine goals and two assists in 30 La Liga appearances.

The moment Leganes’ faith led them to relegation from Spain’s top-flight, it’s become clear the youngster will have to pick his next destination.

Despite overseeing the attacking department undergo a renaissance post restart, resurgent Milanese giants are exploring various options in the market.

Paolo Maldini is hell-bent on adding quality to the ‘Rossoneri’ forward line that excelled since the resumption of football in June.

Milan are in the hunt for a pacey attacking midfielder to provide depth to the current offensive options, and Real Madrid’s Oscar Rodriguez has ended up on their wish-list.

According to MilanNews, talks between Milan and Los Blancos for Rodriguez are well underway, and an offer in the region of €20million could do the trick.

Well aware of Rodriguez’s talents, Real Madrid would like to insert a buy-back clause before allowing the Spain U-21 international to move to Serie A.

He is expected to play understudy to Hakan Calhanoglu but could be staking a claim for regular first-team action if Milan fail to tempt the Turkish star into signing a new deal.

The former Bayer Leverkusen free-kick master has one year left on his contract at the San Siro and has so far been reluctant to pledge his long-term future to the club.
