Inter claimed their first trophy of the season with an easy derby win.
Inter defeated AC Milan 3-0 in the Italian Super Cup final. A solid display from Nerazzurri left no chance for Milan to get back to winning ways at San Siro.
Milan in crisis?
The Rossoneri came into the game on the back of an underwhelming run of three winless games. But they soon showed the same defensive issues that has kept them behind in the league’s title race.
Inter started off as the better side and found an early breakthrough when Federico Dimarco scored their opener. Following a stunning piece of buildup play, the Italian star made it 1-0 for Inter in the tenth minute.
Milan weren’t able to make a quick reaction and had to remain in their own half after conceding. The Nerazzurri, on the other hand, kept on attacking for the second goal.
Only 11 minutes later, Edin Dzeko doubled Inter’s lead with a precise shot from the left-hand channel of the box.
The goal forced Milan to play higher up the pitch. But Inter’s relentless pressing rarely allowed Milan to find any space between their lines.
Inter then wrapped up their victory when a long pass from Milan Skriniar found Lautaro Martinez behind Rossoneri’s backline. The World Cup winner latched onto the ball before smashing the ball into the back of the net with a sublime shot.
Milan kept the pressure on Inter’s backline in the final ten minutes but still didn’t find any serious chances. Inter lifted the trophy at San Siro, continuing their brilliant run of form since after the World Cup break.
