Tammy Abraham bagged a hat-trick as Chelsea eased past Championship side Luton Town to advance to the next round of the FA Cup.
Abraham scored twice in the first half and once in the second as the Blues saw off some spirited opposition in Championship side Luton.
With the goals, the Blues academy graduate put his name in the club’s history books.
Abraham became the first Chelsea player to score a hat-trick in the FA Cup since Oscar against MK Dons in 2016. He is also the first Englishman to do it since the current manager Frank Lampard against Macclesfield in January 2007.
Timo Werner missed a chance to get on the scoresheet after seeing his penalty saved by Luton goalkeeper Simon Sluga late on.
Regardless, Abraham did just enough to send the Blues through with a 3-1 victory at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking after the game, the Chelsea forward said as per BBC: “It’s great to score a hat-trick and win the game so comfortably.
“It is always nice to get a win and play well. Hopefully, we will take that confidence on.”
With his latest set of goals, Abraham also took his season’s tally to 11 goals across all competitions, making him the Blues’ top scorer as it stands.
