Let’s check out the player ratings from the fourth round FA Cup tie between Chelsea and Luton Town at Stamford Bridge.

Tammy Abraham became the first Englishman since Frank Lampard in 2007 to score a hat-trick in the FA Cup to steer Chelsea to a 3-1 win.

The Blues ended a spell of poor form by making light work of Luton in a fourth-round tie at Stamford Bridge. It was their first meeting with the Championship side since April 1994 and finished in a similar manner.

Abraham took just 17 minutes to score two goals and give Chelsea a commanding advantage. Nathan Jones responded by changing Luton’s system, and the manager’s gamble paid off in the form of a goal.

While Jordan Clark hit a relatively tame effort, it was enough to slip past the error-prone Kepa Arrizabalaga and into the back of the net. The strike handed the visitors a lifeline and breathed new life back into the match.

Chelsea carved out a few more chances, but Luton had overcome their early struggles and soaked up the pressure.

The Hatters were content to sit deep and try to grab an equalizer through the counter, while Chelsea pushed for a third goal. Lampard’s men dominated possession and had 21 goal attempts, but struggled to break down Luton’s defense until Abraham struck again.

The 23-year-old got his hat-trick following some brilliant team play. Callum Hudson-Odoi played a quick one-two with Billy Gilmour and then squared the ball across for Abraham to tap in and seal victory.

Timo Werner’s struggles, however, continued after his 86th-minute penalty was saved by Luton keeper Simon Sluga.

Nevertheless, the result should lift a little pressure off an under-fire Lampard and give Chelsea some momentum.

The Blues will now meet Barnsley in the FA Cup for a fifth-round tie in February, with Wolves coming up next in the Premier League on Wednesday.
