A former Spurs favorite is impressed by the Danish midfielder’s huge influence on the team in his short while in North London.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg ended his four-year stay at Southampton in the summer and switched to Tottenham in a reported €16.6 million transfer.

The midfielder has quickly become a key part of Jose Mourinho’s set-up, forming a solid partnership with Moussa Sissoko in the middle of the park.

He has played every minute in each of Spurs’ nine Premier League matches so far and has made an additional seven appearances in Europa League and EFL Cup matches.

Such immense has been the 25-year-old’s impact that many consider him to be Spurs’ best piece of business of last summer – a transfer window in which they also acquired Gareth Bale, Sergio Reguilon, Carlos Vinicius, and Matt Doherty.

A formed striker believes Hojbjerg is exactly the kind of player the team was missing with league-leaders Tottenham currently enjoying a brilliant start to the 2020/21.

“Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is a f*cking bully, a rock in front of the defence,” Dimitar Berbatov told Betfair.

“He knows what he can and can’t do and he’s playing to his strengths. He doesn’t really get much praise but he’s there and he’s doing all the work.

“Mourinho knew exactly what he wanted when they went into the market for a midfielder, and he certainly got all that and more in Hojbjerg.”
