The Bianconeri left it late to snatch all three points from a contest in which both the goalkeepers were largely left untroubled.

Massimiliano Allegri insists Juventus “got a good result with a bad performance” as he reviews his side’s Champions League win over Zenit St Petersburg.

Juventus put in one of their most uninspiring performances in recent months but managed to come out on top against Zenit on Wednesday night.

The Italian giants narrowly beat the Russian outfit, with substitute Dejan Kulusevski notching the match-winner with his side’s only second shot on target.

“It was important for the points, it wasn’t easy as Zenit clammed up in defence and we made a lot of errors in the final third,” Allegri told Sky Sport Italia post-match.

“We slowed it down too much and allowed too many shots on goal with counter-attacks by losing the ball. We should’ve controlled it more once we went 1-0 up, too.

“It was not a great performance, but we got the result and that puts us in a very strong position. We needed to create width today and play between the lines. At times it went well, at others it didn’t.

Juventus will now take on Inter Milan in Serie A on Sunday, and they will do so with their heads held high, having won each of their last seven games across all competitions.

“We got a good result with a bad performance, so the perfect combo to be fired up and play well this weekend.”
