The Catalan giants have announced another departure ahead of the final week of the summer transfer window.

Samuel Umtiti has become the 14th player to leave Barcelona this summer.

The 28-year-old defender has joined Serie A club Lecce on a season loan until June 2023. There is no buy option included in the deal, meaning the player will return to Camp Nou next year.

As part of the agreement, Lecce will pay part of Umtiti’s salary as the Frenchman seeks to rediscover his best form after a continuous streak of injuries limited his game time over the past few seasons.

Which other players have left Barcelona?

In light of today’s announcement, Barcelona have offloaded the following 14 players. Six have left for free, four have gone out on loan, two have returned to their parent clubs after spells on loan, and just one player – Philippe Coutinho – has been sold.

Who could leave next?

There is still work to do, however, with Barcelona’s management determined to offload more players and reduce the wage bill.

According to various reports, Barca are trying to sell striker Martin Braithwaite and Sergino Dest. Memphis Depay, who joined the club last summer, could also leave.

The club, meanwhile, remains in talks with Chelsea over a potential sale for striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
