The veteran defender has struggled to maintain consistency with his performances for Chelsea this season.
Chelsea’s recent dismal performance in their 4-1 defeat against Liverpool at Anfield has sparked criticism aimed at Mauricio Pochettino.
Another disappointing display from the Blues exposed their issues both in the backline and upfront. Thiago Silva, who started alongside Benoit Badiashile, had another night to forget as the Blues conceded four goals at Anfield.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Adrian Durham said of Pochettino: “He doesn’t know his best XI. He’s wasting Cole Palmer’s talent playing him as a false nine, he wasn’t even in the game last night. He’s turning Raheem Sterling into a bang-average Premier League player when we know he’s better than that.”
The journalist added: “Thiago Silva is the big one for me. Pochettino and this Chelsea side are turning his end of career into a complete nightmare, it’s ruining his legacy. I think questions now need to be asked of Pochettino and how he’s managing those players.”
Chelsea slipped back to tenth on the Premier League standings after their defeat against Liverpool. Despite the pressure, Pochettino is set to finish the campaign at Stamford Bridge as the club prepares for more recruitments in the next transfer window.
