The Spurs will return to the Premier League without a number of key players.
Tottenham face a mounting injury crisis as they prepare to clash with Aston Villa, with manager Ange Postecoglou revealing fresh concerns.
Following a 4-1 loss to Chelsea, the team suffered blows as James Maddison and Micky van der Ven were sidelined with injuries. Christian Romero’s suspension and Yves Bissouma’s absence further compound the team’s challenges.
Postecoglou has now revealed that Ashley Phillips and Pape Sarr sustained injuries on international duty, deepening the squad issues.
“We’ve got a couple of issues. Young Ashley Phillips picked up an ankle injury, so he will be out for a little while. It’s disappointing for him. We’ll have a look at Pape Sarr because he’s got a bit of an issue as well. We’ll see how he is over the next 24-48 hours,” the Tottenham manager said.
Although there’s no significant update on Maddison and Van der Ven, there’s a silver lining as Destiny Udogie, who withdrew from the Italy squad, is available.
As Spurs gear up to face Unai Emery’s Villa, questions surround the impact of these setbacks on Postecoglou’s attacking style. After a fantastic start to the campaign, the Spurs suffered back-to-back defeats against Chelsea and Wolves.
