The England international was heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich earlier this summer.
Kyle Walker is reportedly close to accepting Manchester City’s new offer to renew his contract.
Last month, reports emerged of Walker’s personal agreement with Bayern Munich. However, the Bundesliga champions have seemingly failed to convince Man City over a summer move.
According to the Athletic, City have made a more lucrative wage offer to keep the experienced defender at the club. Another report from Fabrizio Romano claims Walker is “temped” to stay at Etihad for another season.
With Walker’s current deal expiring in 2024, City made a few attempts to extend his contract last season. However, Guardiola has repeatedly expressed his desire to keep the Englishman in his squad for the upcoming campaign.
In addition to Walker, City have intensified their efforts to tie Bernardo Silva down to a new contract. Silva was among Barcelona’s main transfer targets, but their financial issues have opened a window for City to continue talks with the 28-year-old.
The two experienced stars are yet to inform the club of their final decision. However, Bayern’s ongoing pursuit of Harry Kane has put them in a difficult place to negotiate for other players.
Walker started for City in their defeat against Arsenal in the Community Shield match. The Citizens are now preparing to take on Burnley in their opening game of the new Premier League season on Friday.
