The Liverpool captain has been among Al Ittifaq’s main transfer targets ahead of the next season.
Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has reportedly rejected a transfer offer from Al Ittifaq.
Since signing Steven Gerrard as their new manager, Al Ittifaq has been linked with a few Liverpool players. The most serious transfer reports claimed Henderson could complete a move to Saudi Arabia. However, it seems the Reds captain is not planning to leave Anfield this summer.
According to CBS Sports, Henderson is not willing to risk his chances of playing for England at Euro 2024.
Despite the arrivals of several high-profile midfielders at Liverpool, Henderson has retained his key role in Jurgen Klopp’s plans. He made 43 appearances for the Reds last season while being a part of England’s squad in the World Cup.
The Reds’ recent signing of Alexis Mac Allister is not directly threatening Henderson’s place in the lineup.
However, the club are also closely following the situation of Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch. The Dutchman spent an impressive Euro U19 campaign, with Bayern reportedly considering to sell him.
Henderson will travel with Liverpool as they start their pre-season camp in Germany. The Reds will take on Karlsruhe next Wednesday before meeting Greuther Furth two days later.
