The Red Devils are planning to loan out the youngster ahead of the next season.
Manchester United have reportedly entered negotiations with Atalanta over a possible loan deal for Mason Greenwood.
Greenwood was suspended by Man Utd in January 2022 due to criminal charges that were subsequently dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in February.
Since then, the 21-year-old has been the subject of internal investigations by United. The club have avoided adding Greenwood to their squad, but a loan move could provide the English forward with a chance to play elsewhere next season.
According to 90min, talks have taken place with Atalanta over a possible loan move to Serie A. The two sides are already in contact due to United’s interest in signing Rasmus Hojlund ahead of the next season.
Greenwood has been training individually in recent weeks, not joining United for the start of their pre-season preparations. Reports in the English media claim that both Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are also closely monitoring the youngster’s situation.
Greenwood is currently under contract with United until June 2025, with the club having the option to extend it for another year.
The Red Devils are under no pressure to sell Greenwood this summer. However, they will most likely leave him out of their next season’s squad until after their internal investigation ends.
