The Catalans are set to complete a move for Vitor Roque.
Barcelona are reportedly on the verge of signing Victor Roque from Athletico Paranaense.
Since joining Athletico Paranaense from Cruzeiro last year, Roque has taken the Brazilian Serie A by storm. He has registered four goals and two assists in his ten league appearances so far this season.
Roque’s performances attracted interest from a host of European sides. But Barca seem to have closed a deal for the 18-year-old winger.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Roque will join the Catalans in January 2024. Barca have already completed signing the transfer documents as they reportedly have an agreement in place with Athletico Paranaense.
In recent days, a few reports emerged of Manchester United’s late effort to hijack Roque’s move to Barcelona. But it seems the Red Devils’ efforts haven’t been enough to bring the teenager to Old Trafford.
The player himself has reportedly played a “crucial” role in his transfer to Barca. Speaking to SPORT in February, the Brazilian star said of a potential move to Camp Nou: “It is a dream not only of mine but also of any player who is appearing.
“If it becomes concrete to end up going to Barça, it will be a great joy for my family and for me… that’s why I have to continue working hard and hope that everything will come to fruition with the tempo.”
