The Bayern Munich players had a scrap after a Champions League game against Manchester City.
Sadio Mane has spoken out about the altercation he had with Bayern Munich teammate Leroy Sane after a Champions League match last season.
Following a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City in the first leg of a Champions League quarter-final in April, Mane punched Sane in the face. Bayern promptly punished him with a £250,000 fine and a one-game suspension.
Even though Sane had a bloodied lip and the two had to be separated, the German reportedly asked the club not to fire Mane. The latter has now spoken to the press about the incident in his native Senegal, saying that it was a small problem that they were able to solve.
“This kind of thing can happen. It happened. We were able to solve this small problem,” Mane said as per the Daily Mail.
“Sometimes it’s good to solve problems, but maybe not in this way. It’s behind us now. We’ll try to fight together to help the club achieve its goals next season.”
Mane even acknowledged that his debut campaign at Bayern was complicated. That said, the winger added he loves challenges. He also voiced his desire to continue at the Allianz Arena amid rumors linking him with a summer departure.
The Senegal international managed 12 goals and six assists in 38 appearances across all competitions last season and helped the club win an 11th straight Bundesliga crown.
