How is Lampard planning to help Chelsea regain their best form?

Frank Lampard has reportedly focused on improving Chelsea’s physical form since his return to the club as their interim manager.

The English manager has found a difficult start to his second spell at the club, losing all three of his matches in charge of the Blues so far.

A 2-1 defeat against Brighton on Saturday kept Chelsea in the 11th spot on the table. The Blues struggled to create chances against their in-form rivals, registering only two shots on target.

According to the Athletic, Lampard has prioritized working with Chelsea players on an individual basis.

Training sessions focused on tactics have reportedly been in short supply since Lampard’s return. The English manager believes his players are not fit enough to play their intense matches in the Premier League.

Lampard’s men will have to face Real Madrid in the return leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie on Tuesday. The Blues will have to fight an uphill battle at Stamford Bridge, trying to come back from a 2-0 defeat in the first leg.

“We have to play with that energy and fight. That’s the bare minimum,” Lampard said on Sunday.

“Of course Real Madrid, they’re a top team. It’s up to us, nothing is on the fans for this one, it’s up to us as a squad.”

He added: “I’ve been at the club nine days; I don’t like what I saw today.

“I’m not going to try and dress that up. We have to be really honest. There should be a feeling when you play for #Chelsea of pride involved. We have to do more for Tuesday.”
