The Blancos are keen to offload one of their defenders due to his struggle to stay fit.
Real Madrid could reportedly sell Ferland Mendy for €40m next summer.
Mendy arrived at Santiago Bernabeu on a €48m move in July 2019. The Frenchman quickly established himself as a key player in Real Madrid’s backline.
However, his consistent injury problems this season haven’t gone unnoticed at the Spanish club.
According to Spanish journalist Tomás González-Martín, Real Madrid will consider transfer bids for Mendy next summer.
Reports emerged of Real Madrid’s negotiations with Mendy over an improved contract. However, the club have seemingly decided against renewing the 27-year-old’s current deal.
Mendy is more than two years away from running down his contract at Santiago Bernabeu.
Real Madrid are, therefore, under no pressure to sell him next summer. However, the club could reportedly consider Mendy’s departure for a fee of around €40m.
Last month, a report from Fichajes claimed Manchester City and Arsenal are closely following Mendy’s situation at Real Madrid.
Summer signing Sergio Gomez has failed to establish himself as a starter on the left-hand side of City’s backline. At Arsenal, uncertainties over Kieran Tierney’s future could convince the Gunners to look for a new option at left-back.
Mendy missed much of the last two months with a thigh injury. He hoped to return to action after the international break.
However, a fresh calf injury will keep the French star out of action for at least another month.
