The Champions League title holders have announced their squad for the rematch against last year’s beaten finalists Liverpool.
Real Madrid captain Karim Benzema has made the club’s 23-man squad list for Tuesday’s Champions League trip to Liverpool.
The 35-year-old forward missed the 2-0 win at Osasuna on Saturday, but is back in training. He has convinced Carlo Ancelotti to recall him. However, the Real Madrid manager has omitted Toni Kroos and Aurlien Tchouameni from the team. The injured midfielders were also unavailable at the weekend.
Last May, Benzema started in Real Madrid’s 1-0 win over Liverpool in the 2021/22 Champions League final. Vinicius Junior scored the game’s only goal in Paris.
The two finalists of the previous season will now meet in the last-16 stage of the 2022/23 tournament. Liverpool will host the first leg at Anfield on Tuesday. The second and final leg takes place at the Santiago Bernabeu on March 15.
