Eddie Howe might decide to drop one of Newcastle’s key players for their upcoming match against Fulham.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has reacted to the news of Joelinton being charged with drunk driving.

Police stopped Joelinton in the Ponteland Road area of Newcastle in the early hours of the morning on Thursday.

The incident generated rumours that How will drop the Brazilian star from his squad for their match against Fulham.

The manager says the club’s hierarchy won’t interfere with his possible decision to punish Joelinton but admits he’s still undecided over dropping him from the squad.

“Everything to do with Joelinton is left in my hands,” Howe told reporters on Friday.

“Ultimately I have to pick the best team to win the game but I also have to take into account the situation around that. We will consider a lot of factors. It is a difficult situation.”

He added: “It came very much as a shock.

“Joe is very remorseful and was very upset yesterday. He knows the seriousness of the situation. He understands his responsibilities. We also understand, as a club, the seriousness of the situation. Everything will be dealt with internally.”

Joelinton has remained a cornerstone of Newcastle’s attacking line as they continue their impressive Premier League run this season.

Eddie Howe’s third-placed side will host Fulham on Sunday, hoping to get back to winning ways after two consecutive draws.
