The former Crystal Palace full-back has struggled for form at Old Trafford since his €55 million arrival in 2019.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has said Aaron Wan-Bissaka has a future at the Premier League club.
The 25-year-old full-back made only his second appearance of the season in Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Burnley in the EFL Cup, setting up Christian Eriksen for United’s first goal of the last-16 tie.
It was Wan-Bissaka’s first assist since May 2021 amid rumors linking the defender with moves to former club Crystal Palace and West Ham.
“Aaron Wan-Bissaka, it is clear he has a future,” Ten Hag told reporters after the final whistle.
“He’s had some good years with United, but from the start of this season he had a lot of illnesses and injuries, and so was running behind. His fitness levels are getting better, his performance levels are getting better.
“When you get an assist, especially the way he got that assist with his movement and the right moment, the timing and then great pass of course from Bruno [Fernandes]. But this is great and so I’m happy with his performance. He did good.”
Marcus Rashford scored the game’s second goal on Wednesday to wrap up a 2-0 victory.
United will now play host to Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford in the Premier League next Tuesday. At the time of writing, Bet365 has priced a Red Devils win at 1.30 odds, implying that they have a 77% chance of all three points.
