The former Arsenal defender joined the Catalans on a year-long contract.
Hector Bellerin has revealed his intention to renew his stay at Barcelona beyond the current campaign.
The Spaniard returned to Arsenal after a highly successful loan spell at Real Betis last summer. However, a late transfer saw him join Barcelona as a free agent just before the season started.
The former La Masia product is under a year-long contract at Camp Nou. However, he is keen to earn a new deal once the season is over.
“For me it was very important. When you grew up at La Masia, it is your greatest dream. I had had opportunities in the past but, for one thing or another, I had not arrived,” Bellerin told Radio Catalunya (via 90min).
“At the moment, I have a one-year contract. I would like to renew, but it depends on both parties.”
Bellerin has fulfilled a backup role on the right-hand side of Barcelona’s defence. The 27-year-old has made three starts under Xavi Hernandez, including a much-criticized performance against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
Following their 4-2 win against Viktoria Plzen on Tuesday, the Catalans prepare to host Almeria this weekend. Bellerin and co will then meet Osasuna in their last pre-World Cup game three days later.
