The Reds will have to face the Premier League champions without two of their key players.

Joel Matip and Trent Alexander-Arnold will not be available for Liverpool in their upcoming match against Manchester City.

The returns of Thiago Alcantara and Jordan Henderson saw Liverpool gradually come out of their injury crisis last week. But the Reds will now have to deal with the absence of two other key stars.

Both Alexander-Arnold and Matip sustained injuries in Liverpool’s 3-2 defeat against Arsenal on Sunday. According to the Athletic, Alexander-Arnold has suffered an ankle injury while Matips has picked up a knock to his calf.

The Liverpool pair will reportedly stay sidelined for two weeks, missing out on their side’s upcoming clash against Manchester City next weekend.

The Merseyside giants hope to see Andrew Robertson back in their squad, with Klopp confirming his improved fitness.

“Robbo is running a lot, looks like he’s close,” Klopp said on Friday.

Asked about Arthur Melo’s injury setback, he added: “We have one new injury, it’s Arthur Melo. In the last session before the Rangers game, in a normal situation he just injured a muscle. We have to wait for further assessment to know exactly how long it will be but he’s out.”
