The Blues have been unable to pay the transfer fee to Dynamo Moscow.
Chelsea have failed to finalize a deal for Arsen Zakharyan despite having an agreement in place with Dynamo Moscow.
The 19-year-old has established a reputation as one of the most promising stars in the Russian top flight.
Zakharyan has won Dynamo Moscow’s Player of the Year award twice in a row while making four caps for Russia.
The Blues agreed to pay the teenager’s €15m release clause, hoping to add him to their squad for the ongoing season.
However, the Blues have failed to pay the fee due to sanctions on Russia. On the other hand, Dynamo has decided against allowing Zakharyan’s departure before receiving his release clause.
According to Championat, Zakharyan will stay on loan at Dynamo for the time being.
However, the Russian source claims Chelsea are confident they will solve the transaction problem ‘before the winter’.
“Today, it is impossible to close the transfer of Zakharyan in the summer transfer window,” Zakharyan’s agent told Sport-Express.
“This transfer is not frozen until winter, but it is possible. Now we are still working to ensure that Dinamo can get money from Chelsea.”
