Chelsea make €50m offer for Ajax midfielder
The Blues have made a €50 million bid to sign Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez ahead of transfer deadline day.
In light of N’Golo Kante’s hamstring injury, Thomas Tuchel wants to make a late dash for midfield reinforcements. The Chelsea manager believes Alvarez fits the bill as both a short and a long-term solution. Ajax, however, are under no pressure to sell another key player.
The Dutch champions have already sold Antony, Lisandro Martinez, Sebastien Haller, Ryan Gravenberch, and Noussair Mazraoui this summer. [ESPN]
Newcastle to rival Arsenal for Tielemans
The Magpies have entered the race to sign Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans.
The 25-year-old Belgian has long been touted as a target for Arsenal. He is out of contract next summer and, therefore, Leicester might be open to a deadline day sale. Newcastle are trying to find out if a deal is doable. [Daily Mail]

Dest could join AC Milan on loan
AC Milan appear to have beaten Villarreal to the signing Barcelona full-back Sergino Dest on a season loan.
Villarreal tried to convince Dest to join them, but the 21-year-old found AC Milan’s offer more attractive. He is now on the verge of a move to San Siro.
AC Milan and Barcelona are in talks to arrange a season-long loan deal with a buy option worth €20 million included for next summer’s transfer window. [ESPN]
Chelsea eye Leao as a Neymar alternative
The Blues are considering a transfer for AC Milan forward Rafael Leao as a potential Neymar alternative.

Inter make Skriniar decision
Inter Milan have decided to keep Milan Skriniar despite a late move from Paris Saint-Germain.
The defender was a key target for PSG this summer. The Ligue 1 leaders wished to re-enter negotiations after a failed attempt, but Simone Inzaghi’s side shut the door on them. Inter could now offer Skriniar a new contract. [Gianluca Di Marzio – in Italian]
