The Norwegian striker has joined the Citizens to start a new chapter in his career from the next season.
Erling Haaland has revealed he will wear Manchester City’s number nine shirt next season.
The Norway international completed a sensational move to Man City from Borussia Dortmund earlier this summer. The 21-year-old confirms he will take on Gabriel Jesus’ shirt at Etihad after the Brazilian’s £45million move to Arsenal.
“I’m happy to have been presented with the number 9,” the former Dortmund star said.
“It’s been part of my story over the last two years, both at club level and with the national team and I’m looking forward to continuing that at City.
“It’s a shirt that every striker aspires to and to wear it at one of the best clubs in the world is a dream come true. I can’t wait to get started.”
Haaland left Dortmund with a staggering record of 85 goals and 22 assists in 88 appearances for the club. It’s no surprise that he is already the bookies’ pick to win the next season’s Premier League Golden Boot.
Haaland added: “I hope the fans are looking forward to it as much as we are. It’ll be great to come together with the other lads for the first time at the stadium and get the chance to be introduced to our supporters.”
Haaland will join City’s squad in the coming days after completing a fitness test at the club. The Citizens will then fly to the USA, where they will spend their pre-season campaign.
