The Senegalese star might be able to continue with his well-known number after joining the German giants.
Leroy Sane’s father has revealed his son will give Bayern Munich’s number 10 shirt if Sadio Mane wants to wear it next season.
Mane completed a £35 million transfer to join the Bundesliga champions ahead of the next season. The Senegal star was Liverpool’s number 10 since 2018, but the number is already taken at Bayern.
Sane has been wearing the No 10 jersey since his arrival from Manchester City. However, he is open to giving it to Mane this summer.
“Sadio Mane is known with the number 10 at Liverpool and the national team – while at Bayern, my son wears it.
“If Sadio wants the number 10, I’m certain there would be no problem for Leroy to give it to him.”
Mane said he had not yet decided on his shirt number during his first press conference at Bayern on Wednesday.
He said: “We haven’t talked about the shirt number yet.
“There are many nice numbers. I will decide when the time comes. That doesn’t really matter to me at the moment.”
Mane will provide competition for Sane, Serge Gnabry, and Kingsley Coman as Bayern’s regular choices on the wings.
However, in case Lewandowski leaves the club, he might play as a target striker down the middle next season. That might also convince him to wear Lewa’s number nine shirt at the club.
