The AC Milan legend says the Liverpool pair must only focus on improving their performances.

George Weah has urged Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane to avoid Ballon d’Or rumours despite their world-class form.

The Liverpool duo have delivered incredible performances for the Reds this season. Jurgen Klopp’s side continued their close title race with Manchester City by smashing Man United 4-0 on Wednesday.

Salah scored twice while Mane found the back of the net once against the Red Devils. It was yet another brilliant display from the two African stars.

Many observers consider both players among the main contenders for the next year’s Ballon d’Or. However, Weah, who is the only African star to have won the prestigious prize, says they must not obsess over winning the award.

The Liberia legend told Canal +: “They shouldn’t obsess over the Ballon d’Or. Rather they should focus on their performances and try to improve more.”

He added: “They souldn’t put unnecessary pressure on themselves. I always worked hard to get my family out of poverty, that’s how I was awarded the Ballon d’Or.”

Liverpool are continuing their dream of winning a quadruple this season, competing in all of the four available tournaments.

Salah and co will return to Premier League action on Sunday as they face Everton in a home game.
