The Red Devils captain has received widespread criticism in recent weeks.

Manchester United have confirmed that police are investigating a possible threat to Harry Maguire’s house.

The incident comes two days after Liverpool defeated Man United 4-0 at Anfield. Similar to almost all of United’s recent games, Maguire faced criticism for his performance after the game.

The 29-year-old has reportedly received an email claiming that a bomb would be used to destroy his Alderley Edge property.

“In the last 24 hours, Harry [Maguire] has received a serious threat to his family home,” a Man United spokesperson said.

“He has reported this to the police who are now looking into the matter.”

According to the Sun, Maguire is in a state of ‘extreme shock’ after receiving the threat.

The England international resides with his fiancée Fern Hawkins and their two daughters. Following his report, a host of officers, along with sniffer dogs, are investigating the house.

Having made 35 appearances for United this season, Maguire has failed to bring consistency to the Red Devils’ backline. The centre-back displayed another poor performance when his side suffered a 4-0 defeat against their arch-rivals, Liverpool.

The defeat sent United to the sixth spot on the table, three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham. Let’s see if Maguire and co can bounce back from the defeat when they meet Arsenal this weekend.
