Bayern Munich sent Barcelona to the Europa League with an easy win at Allianz Arena.

Bayern Munich defeated Barcelona 3-0 in their Champions League game on Wednesday. The Bavarians were qualified for the next round, but that did not stop them from ruining Barca’s chances of qualifying.

The Blaugrana needed a victory to get to the next round. However, Bayern dominated the entire game, leaving little space for Barca to create any serious chances.

Thomas Muller was a key player for Bayern throughout the game, while improving his personal record against the Spanish side. The Bayern star scored the opener for Bayern, which was his seventh goal in eight matches against the Catalans.

Having played against Barcelona several times, Muller spoke about the Spanish giants’ current form after the game.

“I think Barça can’t cope with the intensity,” Muller told DAZN (via Mirror).

“Technically, they have it all, they are great players tactically and technically.

“But they can’t cope with the intensity in top football.”

Barcelona managed to score only two goals in their six group stage games of the Champions League. The Catalans will now try their luck in the Europa League for the first time in over two decades.

Xavi Hernandez’s side will continue their La Liga campaign with a match against Osasuna on Sunday. Barcelona currently sit seventh in the Spanish top flight, sixteen points behind league leaders Real Madrid.
