Reece James opened the scoring for Chelsea five minutes past the hour-mark. The England international scored again in the 77th minute, completing his brace for the Blues.
A late penalty from Jorginho sealed the much-needed victory. The Ballon d’Or nominee rarely misses a penalty and today was not his bad day.
With their victory against Newcastle, Chelsea extended their lead to three points at the top of the table.
The Blues will face Malmo in the Champions League on Tuesday.
