After Jurgen Klopp thanked god for his presence, we are here to tell you which player is responsible for Liverpool’s awakening.

We could easily state that Liverpool’s awakening is the sole responsibility of a player like Mo Salah but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Defensive players are the ones who win championships as they’ve proved it in recent years. Last season, the entire Premier League saw how Ruben Dias became Manchester City’s most important player. Just a year before that, Virgil van Dijk was arguably the best defender in the world. He is the man everybody should be looking at right now.

Jurgen Klopp himself recently thanked God for having the Dutch giant back on the roster. Despite suffering a serious knee injury, Virgil was able to recover completely from this issue and return to full health. But he knows how much pressure rests on his shoulders and he wants nothing to do with it. In fact, Virgil wanted to remind everybody that he is only human and he can also make mistakes. But numbers don’t lie. Van Dijk is the main reason Liverpool is back at the top.

Van Dijk defends his possible future mistakes.

As per Liverpool’s website, here’s what Van Dijk had to say before facing Atletico Madrid: “I know there are a lot of eyes pointing in my direction, wondering ‘Is he going to be back in the same way’. They were already before but will be now even more, but it’s something I’m not thinking about. The only thing I can do is try my best each and every game. Everybody knows how difficult it is to come back from a knee injury. I don’t think there are a lot of examples of players who had an ACL and complex knee injury that gets back to his best after a year.

“I feel like I am improving. I have work to do but I don’t think about what others have to say or judge. The only thing to get there is to play games, to get better, to get more confident in the things you do, get back to normal things. I am not a robot. I’m my own biggest critic and I know exactly when I can do better. How I see it is to just improve as much as I can and I’m fairly confident in the way I see things. I’m playing at the highest level again, playing with a lot of joy, so far it is going in the right way and I am feeling fine but there is always room for improvement.”
