Despite salvaging a single point against Granada, FC Barcelona must sack Ronald Koeman as soon as possible in order to save the season.
FC Barcelona managed to salvage a point against Granada at Camp Nou Stadium tonight thanks to a goal scored by Ronald Araujo. The Uruguay international played an incredible performance in the midst of a disastrous moment for Ronald Koeman. In the game’s preview, there was already a feeling that the manager would try to pull a ‘hail Mary’ with a new lineup. For weeks, Koeman has been harshly criticized for not offering more opportunities for the younger generation.
La Masia is regarded as one of the last hopes FC Barcelona has to salvage the season, but Koeman didn’t bulge until today. With an impressively young roster from the start, the Dutch manager made one of his final attempts to keep his job. Domingos Duarte gave Granada the lead during the first half against a weak FC Barcelona squad that doesn’t know how to come back from adverse results. Koeman seemed tense from the very start of the game because he knew his job was probably on the line.

The modifications made by Koeman were the reason the Blaugranas didn’t lose the match but they still kept playing poor football. Ronald Araujo was the man who scored a heroic equalizer that gave FC Barcelona a chance to earn a point. But regardless of the result, the image was absolutely dismal from the squad. All the supporters who attended Camp Nou were fed up with the entire situation.
They all want the manager out of the squad for good reason. He has no idea how to get the squad out of this terrible situation and a fresh start is badly needed. Joan Laporta needs to act accordingly but he may still hold on to the coach because the club has no money to pay for his severance. As of right now, the Catalan club is in a complicated situation that is merely a result of the club’s poor management over the last decade. There seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel for Barcelona just yet.
