Derby day dominance from the Blues, who took the game by the scruff of its neck after the break and tore their opponents to shreds.
Chelsea continued proving their Premier League title credentials by recording an empathic 3-0 win over Tottenham on Sunday.
Tottenham were the better side in the first half and even came very close to taking the lead after 33 minutes as Son Heung-min, who was back in the line-up for the first time after the international break, saw his close-range effort saved by Kepa Arrizabalaga.
The scales started tipping in the favor of Chelsea in the second period, though, after the introduction of N’Golo Kante into the game.
The France international was quick to make an impact as he helped his side double their advantage, sending a low strike goalwards which deflected off Eric Dier and slipped into the back of the net, after Thiago Silva had put them on the front foot with a fine header.
Silva’s defensive partner Antonio Rudiger sealed the win in stoppage time by rifling in a powerful first-time shot into the bottom corner.
The result sees Chelsea leapfrog Liverpool and Manchester United to the top of the table, although all three title contenders are level on points (13).
