Spurs marginally got over the line on the weekend to secure their third straight win in the 2021-22 campaign.
Nuno Espirito Santo insists Tottenham rising to the top of the table after the 1-0 victory over Watford “doesn’t mean anything at all.”
Son Heung-min was the difference between the two sides at the end of 90 minutes. The South Korean marked his 200th Premier League appearance for Tottenham by scoring a sublime free-kick that took the Watford goalkeeper by surprise.
The victory pretty much guaranteed that Premier League matchday 3 will end with Tottenham leading the title race, but their manager wasn’t too thrilled.
“That doesn’t mean anything at all, that doesn’t mean anything,” Nuno said in his post-match press conference, as Football London reports.
“I invite everybody, not only the players, but our fans to don’t pay attention to that. Don’t pay attention to that. Let’s keep on working, we still have a long way and a lot of aspects to improve on.
Nuno added on the match: “I think we kept all the game the shape, the right triggers, the right moments to press. Much better in the second half when we recover higher up the pitch.
“Something I didn’t like: we should be more clinical, I think we had enough quality and talent players to kill the game.”
