Ahead of a second-round EFL Cup clash at West Brom this week, Arsenal have released a fitness update on the squad.
Six players could report back to action for Arsenal’s EFL Cup clash at West Brom on Wednesday.
Gabriel Martinelli and Kieran Tierney, who suffered knocks in the 2-0 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday, have been cleared to return. The pair are back in full training ahead of the second-round showdown.
Martin Odegaard, who joined the club last week from Real Madrid in a €35 million deal, is now available to make his second Gunners debut. The 22-year-old’s visa issues forced him to miss the Chelsea game.
Alex Runarsson, Willian and Alexandre Lacazette – who all tested positive for COVID-19 – could return. Runarsson and Lacazette are back in full training, suggesting they’ll be ready to face West Brom.
Who are doubts?
Despite returning to training alongside Runarsson and Lacazette, Willian is a doubt for Wednesday. Arsenal plan to continue assessing the Brazilian before making a final decision.
Hector Bellerin, like Willian, has returned to training himself after a thigh injury but remains a doubt to face West Brom.
Who is still out?
Arsenal have confirmed Ben White, who tested positive for COVID-19 last week, remains unavailable. Thomas Partey and Eddie Nketiah continue to recover from their respective ankle injuries.
Gabriel is back in team training after recovering from a knee injury sustained with the Brazilian Olympic Squad. He’s made solid progress but isn’t expected to return yet.
