Despite heavy interest from Arsenal and Juventus, Sassuolo feel no pressure to sell Manuel Locatelli this summer.

Clubs interested in making offers for Manuel Locatelli or any other Sassuolo star player have until August 8, says the club’s CEO Giovanni Carnevali.

The 23-year-old midfielder is on Arsenal and Juventus’ radars this summer following impressive outings for Sassuolo in Serie A and in Italy’s triumphant Euro 2020 campaign.

With Locatelli’s stock at an all-time high, Sassuolo can profit big time. The Neroverdi reportedly expect at least €40 million, a figure Arsenal would be prepared to pay. Juventus, on the other hand, have tabled a loan offer to their Serie A rivals with a €30m buy obligation included.

But while a Turin move is Locatelli’s preference, Juventus will have to dig deep in their pockets to sign him. Arsenal have made a bid and another unnamed English club is also in the mix.

“Locatelli wants to join Juventus,” Carnevali told Sky Sport Italia.

“However, the club needs to reach an agreement with us. We’ll see if there are the right conditions to make it happen, otherwise he is staying with us. We’ll speak to Juve tomorrow.

“Locatelli also has proposals from Arsenal and another English club that has now joined the race, so he must make a decision, or of course he could stay with us.”

Carnevali added: “We are not selling any of our star names after 8 August. Domenico Berardi is our top player, we want to keep him.

“If an offer were to arrive, we’d take it into consideration and talk to the player, but we won’t sell anyone deep into August.”

Sassuolo begin their Serie A campaign away to Hellas Verona on August 21.
