'He's better than that!' - White warned over looming Arsenal move

An ex-England international suggests that the Brighton man is too good to play for the Gunners.

Arsenal is not the ideal next destination for Ben White due to the lack of opportunities to win trophies at the club, argues Danny Mills.

White is poised to join Arsenal, who have reached an agreement with Brighton to secure the services of the highly-rated defender in a transfer reportedly worth £50 million.

Manchester City were also understood to be in the race to sign the 23-year-old, who rose to prominence following a series of solid displays at the heart of the Seagulls defense last season.

“The only thing I am surprised at is Ben White has gone to Arsenal,” former Man City, Leeds United, and England right-back Mills told talkSPORT.

“Let’s assume that he will be at Arsenal for two or three years at least before he goes somewhere else. I just think he is better than that.”

Asked why White should’ve opted for a different club, Mills replied: “Because he has got a better chance of winning things. What is he going to win at Arsenal? League Cup, if he is lucky. Maybe the FA Cup.

“I think he is an exceptional player and I think he is a fantastic signing for Arsenal. I am just a little bit surprised that Manchester United, who are looking for a centre-half, haven’t come in for him.”
