The Gunners boss dropped an optimistic transfer declaration ahead of the club’s tour to America for the Florida Cup next week.

Arsenal could close some transfer deals in the coming days as Mikel Arteta admits he expects to see “some new faces” in his squad.

Arsenal have already secured the signing of 21-year-old Portuguese full-back Nuno Tavares, who made a promising start to life at the Emirates by scoring in his first appearance for the club.

Another piece of transfer business is close to being wrapped up by the north London side, who are on the verge of adding highly-rated defender Ben White to their ranks.

In other news, they are in the pursuit of Manuel Locatelli – a standout performer for Italy at Euro 2020 – as they look to reinforce their midfield.

Speaking after a 2-2 stalemate with Rangers in the first pre-season friendly, the Gunners boss discussed his side’s immediate plans while also indicating that new signings are on the way.

Arteta told Arsenal Media: “Now a little bit of recovery.

“We trained really hard, played two games, and now we’re going to be travelling to America in the next week.

“We didn’t have any injuries which is really positive in the first week. We’re going to have some new faces arriving probably, so very positive.”
