Though his loan spell wasn’t exactly a success, the Welshman’s did have moments when he was at his brilliant best.
Tottenham new boss Nuno Espirito Santo has confirmed Gareth Bale will not be a part of his plans for the 2021-22 season.
Bale joined Tottenham on a season-long loan deal last summer, supposedly with hopes of rejuvenating his career that had stagnated over the last couple of seasons at Real Madrid.
The 31-year-old, who spent a good portion of the season on the sidelines, featured in 34 matches across all competitions – making the starting XI in only 19 of those.
He contributed 16 goals in total, with three of those coming in the form of a hat-trick in the 4-0 Premier League win over Sheffield United.
As it turns out, however, the once world’s costliest player wasn’t able to convive the Spurs hierarchy that he could play a key role in the team in the upcoming season.
Quizzed whether Bale would return for a second loan spell, Nuno told reporters in his first press conference as the Tottenham manager, per Evening Standard: “He will not be part of our squad.”
Bale’s future, meanwhile, still remains up in the air, with some reports mentioning he could be sold by Real Madrid while others claiming he could retire.
