Arsenal have sanctioned a deal for youngster Konstantinos Mavropanos to go back out on loan to continue his development.
Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos has rejoined Stuttgart on a second loan deal for the 2021/22 campaign.
The 23-year-old impressed at the German club last season and had been expected to return. He rejoins for an initial £500k loan fee, which could become a permanent deal next summer.
It’s understood Stuttgart must pay Arsenal £3 million to sign Mavropanos permanently if they stay in the Bundesliga. If relegated, the Reds can still make the defender’s stay a permanent one as well. While bonuses of around £1.5 million mean Arsenal could profit around £5 million in total.
Mavropanos, who will get a three-year contract if he joins Stuttgart permanently in 2022, will have a sell-on clause as part of his deal.
“It was a great wish of mine to continue my career at VfB,” he posted on Instagram. “Many thanks to the VFB family for the trust they have placed in me.
“Special thanks to Sven Mislintat and Pellegrino Matarazzo, [both] fantastic people who have contributed to my success with great professionalism. I will use my full potential in order to meet the high expectations of the team.
“For the future, I hope that we will all stay healthy and that our fans will be able to support each other in the stadium again. This is something that I have missed a lot and I cannot wait to experience it again in the Mercedes Benz Arena.”
Stuttgart begin their pre-season schedule with a friendly away to German fifth-tier club FSV Hollenbach on July 6 in Mulfingen.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Brighton defender Ben White. The England international could join for a transfer fee worth around £50 million.
