A new report in the Spanish media claims that Barcelona president Joan Laporta is plotting to unite Ronaldo with Messi at Camp Nou.

Joan Laporta reportedly dreams of uniting Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi at Barcelona. The club’s president has laid out a bold plan that could end in perhaps the biggest transfer in history.

With only a year left on his Juventus contract, Ronaldo’s future is in doubt. Former clubs Manchester United and Real Madrid have been linked with moves, as have Paris Saint-Germain.

But Spanish outlet Diario AS claim a shock move to Camp Nou could be another option. Laporta allegedly dreams of seeing Ronaldo and Messi play alongside each other in La Liga.

He has a bold plan to make it happen in offering Juventus two players as part a deal. Antoine Griezmann, Sergi Roberto, and Philippe Coutinho are three options that could be on offer to the Italian giants.

That said, there is no guarantee Ronaldo would accept a move to Barcelona given his history with Real Madrid.

The 36-year-old’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has also received no formal approach from Laporta or Barcelona.

Exactly how the Catalan club would pay Ronaldo’s salary is also up in the air. But given Ronaldo is arguably the most marketable footballer on the planet, along with the tantalizing prospect of him and Messi in the same team, Laporta is confident he can pay CR7’s wages.

Messi, meanwhile, is yet to put pen-to-paper on a new contract and his current deals expires on June 30. Laporta, though, is hopeful he can tie down the captain to a new agreement this summer.
