A major football legend who recently retired gave this statement about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s job as Manchester United’s manager.
Manchester United has many great former players who shared the dressing room with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. One of those players is Diego Forlan, who is one of Uruguay’s greatest players in history. The former United and Villarreal striker spoke to Marca about several topics ahead of a crucial week in Europe. As a former player of both sides that will play the Europa League semifinals later today, Forlan has a unique view on both clashes.
When asked about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s capabilities as a manager, Forlan disclosed some great information. He likened the Norwegian’s traits to some of Sir Alex Ferguson’s details as a coach. But more importantly, Forlan spoke about Solskjaer’s personality as a human being. In his view, Ole is the perfect manager for a club like Manchester United.
Forlan remembers Solskjaer fondly.
In a recent interview with Marca, this is what Diego Forlan had to say about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: “I had the opportunity to be with him for two-and-a-half years. He is a great guy, very professional, a very nice guy. Everything you see about him is everything he is. He’s very calm and, of course, he can get angry like everybody can, but he has a calm personality. He likes to study a lot and likes to work hard.
“When we were together on the bench, we were always talking about the defenders [and] what we needed to do if we got on the pitch. He was always analyzing everything that was happening during the game; he wasn’t only watching the game, he was trying to see where he can get into a position to score a goal, to take advantage once he gets the chance to come on. He’s a very honest guy, a family man and also very calm.”
