PSG 'need 11 warriors ready to die on the pitch' for Man City turnaround

The French champions have it all to do in Manchester next week after suffering a defeat at home in the Champions League semi-final first-leg.

Paris Saint-Germain “need 11 warriors ready to die on the pitch” if they are to inspire a turnaround against Manchester City in the Champions League semi-final second-leg.

PSG were very much in control of the game in the first half of Wednesday’s outing at Parc des Princes and managed to go into the break with the lead.

The second half, however, was entirely different as Man City started dominating the game. The hosts were eventually punished for their wastefulness in front of goal as Kevin De Bruyne leveled the scoreline near the hour-mark before Riyad Mahrez scored the winner for the visitors.

PSG will obviously go into the second leg with a disadvantage but Florenzi insists Man City “haven’t won the war yet”.

Everything is still possible in this semifinal.

After victories in Barcelona and Munich, there is all to play for. Paris can believe in its strengths.

“We lost our shape, it’s not like us,” the Italian full-back told Sky Sport Italia reflecting on the events of the match after the 2-1 defeat.

“We are 22 talented players on the pitch, it’s a battle for 90 minutes. The first goal was a little fortunate, the second went through the wall. Details make the difference at this level.

“However, we’re only halfway through the battle, they haven’t won the war yet.

“We hope to continue the trend of away wins. It won’t be easy, but this team has what it takes to win in Manchester. We need 11 warriors ready to die on the pitch.”
