Tottenham have released a statement condemning racial abuse on Son Heung-min after the South Korean became the latest victim to suffer such.

Tottenham say they are fully against the racist abuse directed at Son Heung-min on social media following Sunday’s 3-1 home loss to Manchester United.

The South Korea forward was involved in a controversial incident, which saw an Edinson Cavani’s goal controversially ruled out in the first half for the visitors. Scott McTominay was adjudged to have fouled Son in the build-up.

The incident led to Mourinho and Solskjaer exchanging words after the game, in another twist to the incident.

Son was targeted with racist insults both in replies to a tweet from Spurs’ official account and in the comments section on his most recent Instagram post.

Releasing a statement via Twitter, Spurs said: “Another matchday and more abhorrent racial abuse suffered by one of our players. This has again been reported to the platforms and we shall now undertake a full review alongside the Premier League to determine the most effective action moving forward.

“We stand with you, Sonny.”

It continues what is a sad trend of Premier League footballers getting racially abused. In response to the growing racist incidents, Thierry Henry recently went off all social media and a number of players have expressed their interest to potentially join the ex-Arsenal man in his boycott.
