It happened during West Ham United’s match at Wolves on Monday, Jesse Lingard scored a goal of the season contender.

Jesse Lingard has gone from complete obscurity to making Gareth Southgate have serious doubts about leaving him out of the England squad. The West Ham United star has been absolutely unplayable this season for the Hammers. Even Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is scratching his head and questioning why he allowed Jesse to leave United. Today, he proved he is one of the fastest-paced players in the world with the opener against Wolves.

Molineux Stadium gave us a stellar performance from the England international that proves he truly is back to his top form. It’s been a long road filled with complicated moments for Lingard, but he finally recovered from his mental problems. He previously opened up about personal issues he confronted pretty much on his own. Today, we can finally say that the best Jesse Lingard is back.

A Puskas Award contender.

The type of goal Lingard scored against Wolves tonight is easily considered a Puskas Award contender. Last year, Son Heung-Min scored a similar goal that got him the prize at the end of the season. It was early in the year back then, similar to what happened tonight at Molineux Stadium. At around the sixth minute of the match, Jesse took a ball from his own pitch and made an impressive solo run that ended with a wonderful finish.

He also set Bowen up for West Ham’s third goal of the evening before the 40th minute of the game with another wonderful run. At halftime, the Hammers were already winning the match 1-3 against Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad. With Lingard as one of the absolute stars of the day, West Ham United is playing fantastic Premier League football.
