Due to all the rumors about his future at the club, Jose Mourinho had to react about Harry Kane and his options to stay at Tottenham.

Jose Mourinho doesn’t like all the talk about Harry Kane’s future at Tottenham Hotspur, but it’s something he has to live with. Every single time he sits on the press room, he will be asked countless questions about this topic. But Jose knows that he can evade them as much as he wants. In recent days, there have been reports from Spain that link Kane to FC Barcelona.

Also, Manchester United and Manchester City are allegedly considering a move for the England captain. But for Mourinho, this topic is not as important as finishing the season in the best possible manner. He harbors hope that Kane will consider staying if they end up with at least the one trophy they can win. As the Carabao Cup final approaches at the end of April, all Mourinho needs to do is focus on improving his players in order to face Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

Mourinho doesn’t want to play that game.

When asked about Kane’s future via Sky Sports, this is what Mourinho said: “I cannot play that game. We must to focus on what he is for us. Of course I’m always pleased with my players when they go to international games but I cannot play that game. I can only focus on what he does for us and the effort he put in for us at Villa, the effort he put in for England, and the match at Newcastle and whether playing well or not, he will be there for the team. We want Harry to be with us what he has been [like]. I want Harry to repeat against Newcastle the same performance he gave against Aston Villa, the same desire, team spirit, and leadership and I know that I am going to have that.

“I don’t know whether there is always a smile on his face. What I know is that he is professional, and a part of being talented or not is [whether or not] a player is professional. I am very, very pleased to have him and happy to see him and all the other guys when they go to their national teams, especially when they have positive results. He is leaving a very good period for club and country and he has a nice challenge between now and the end of the season. We have a final to play, Harry has many Premier League games to fight for every point, then he has a Euros with the possibility to play the final at Wembley. He has to be happy with the moment he is living in.”
